(Source: Blanda Nace, Redevelopment Manager - York Co. EDC) MAY 28 UPDATE A look back (May 21 to 25): The staff brought on more masons in an attempt to complete brick work at the home-plate entrance. Work on the field continued, and the infield area is now staked in preparation for the placement of sod. About 70 percent of the seats in the main seating bowl have been installed. A look forward (May 28 to June 1): Workers will set the steel for the towering left-field home run wall. Foundations will be poured for the outfield light poles. Poles are scheduled to be raised during the week of June 4-8. The 15-foot wide rolls of sod are expected to be shipped from Delaware in the coming days. Sod delivery is scheduled for June 6. More windows and metal wall panels on the exterior of the second floor will be installed. MAY 21 UPDATE A look back (May 14 to 18): Construction crews neared the completion of pouring the concrete for the stadium's seating bowl. Seats and seat backs have been installed in 15 of the 26 sections, and seat frames have been mounted in 18 sections. Masons placed pre-cast arches on the home-plate entrance. Permanent electric lines have been installed under Arch Street. The fence contractor has started installation of stadium railings. Crews started drywall installation on the second floor. Security crews installed cameras. Field drainage work neared completion. A look ahead (May 21 to 25): Crews expect to near completion of the concrete work on the second floor. The only area that still needs concrete work is the luxury box balcony, but only 40 percent of the concrete work on the balcony remains. Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning work will continue. Brickwork will continue. Permanent water and sewer services will be completed, light towers will be installed and seating bowl concrete will be completed. MAY 14 UPDATE A look back (May 7 to May 11): Construction crews continued to work on the second floor, framing the function rooms and working on HVAC, window and sprinkler installation. Light towers were installed. Crews also continued pouring the seating bowl and concourse. Seat installation continued, with crews securing seat frames in three more sections. Sewer line relocation on Arch Street was completed. Field drainage work continued. A look forward (May 14 to May 18): Walls will be poured in the home team's batting cage. Crews are also expected to install the foundation for the large video board. The seating bowl could be completed. Floors will be epoxy coated in the first-base restrooms. APRIL 27 UPDATE Crews continue working feverishly on Sovereign Bank Stadium. As of Friday, it appears as though things are on schedule for the first game on June 15th. On the first base side (phase I), foundations, steel, wall studs and block are complete; plumbing, electric and sprinkler systems are 90% complete, roof is 75% complete and windows and HVAC is about 10% complete. Seating bowl is shaped and concrete steps in the seating bowl are 40% complete. In the center of the stadium (phase II), foundations, steel and seating bowl are complete; plumbing and electric are 70% complete. Down third base (phase III), foundations, steel and seating bowl are complete; plumbing and electrical are 85% complete. Seats are 60% installed. The field drainage system and gravel drainage layer have been installed in the area between 3rd base and centerfield, completing essentially the entire left field area. Sanitary sewer work is on-going in Arch Street, and the rear parking lot has been graded. In the next weeks, the nearly 100-foot tall light towers will be installed, crews will continue work on the interior of the stadium, and field drainage installation will continue. Kitchen equipment installation may begin shortly. MAR |
