Sixth Annual Preseason Celebration Will Be Saturday, April 23 Noon To 6 p.m.
The defending Atlantic League Champion York Revolution have announced plans for their sixth-annual Fan Fest Celebration, which will be held at Sovereign Bank Stadium Saturday, April 23 from Noon to 6 p.m., six days before the Revs open the 2011 season at home against the Camden Riversharks. The event, presented by Great County 107.7 WGTY will begin with a performance from country up and comer Thompson Square around noon lasting until 2 p.m. The show will take place on the Brooks Robinson Plaza in front of the stadium. The gates will then open at 2 p.m. and the Revolution will take on the Heroes of the Diamond for the second consecutive season at Fan Fest with a 3 p.m. first pitch.
Thompson Square, the husband and wife duo of Keifer and Shawna Thompson have burst onto the scene with hit single “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not” off of their self-titled debut album. The album and single have climbed into the top 10 on the U.S. country charts, and are quickly rising to the top spot.
The first 1,000 fans through the gate for the game will receive a camouflage Revolution cap, courtesy of St. Onge. The game is being presented by General Dynamics. The Heroes of the Diamond (formerly the U.S. Military All-Stars) are a traveling team of former and active duty military personnel from every branch, who play various amateur and professional teams throughout the spring and summer, including some Major League clubs. Their popular camouflage uniforms are among the most recognizable in the game.
There will be a 15-minute full-team autograph session on the field with the Revolution prior to the game as soon as gates open at 2. Ticket prices are two dollars for season ticket holders and four dollars otherwise. Tickets for the game will be on sale in person March 12 at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office and online March 14, when the rest of the Revolution individual and All-Star Game tickets go on sale.
Throughout Fan Fest, fans will be able to pick up their season ticket plans, and individual game tickets will be on sale for all. This includes the 2011 Atlantic League All-Star Game, which is coming to Downtown York for the first time the evening of Wednesday, July 13. Fans are encouraged to secure their All-Star Game tickets as soon as possible, as a sellout crowd is anticipated.
The Revolution will begin defense of their ALPB Title on Friday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. against Camden. The Opening Day festivities will include the unveiling of the championship banner and a pre-game ceremony where returning players and coaches from last season will receive their championship rings.
