Patriots Sweep Revs In Doubleheader Behind Dominant Pitching
The Somerset Patriots defeated the York Revolution 4-2 Sunday evening at TD Bank Ballpark. The Patriots received another dominant outing from their starter as Luke Sommer threw six strong innings. With the win, the Patriots have swept the Revs in the days’ doubleheader with one more game of the series remaining that will be played Monday night. With the two losses on the day, the Revs magic number remains at five. The Revs got things going in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. With LF Chris Walker reaching base on an error, he came across the plate on a double smacked by SS Ramon Castro. Revolution starter Justin Edwards took the loss (1-1) only lasting two and two-thirds innings giving up all four Patriot runs off of six hits and four walks. The final game of the series will be played Monday night at 7:05 with Revs RHP Nick Schumacher (1-1, 3.14) taking the mound against the Patriots’ righty Chris Oxspring (4-8, 4.37) at TD Bank Ballpark. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350 and Shoutcast.com (WPDC) beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call. |
