TRIUNFEL'S TATER LIFTS REVS

(August 16, 2017 – Sugar Land, TX):  Carlos Triunfel broke a tie score with a home run in the top of the ninth inning as the York Revolution came from behind for a big 4-3 win over the Sugar Land Skeeters on Wednesday night in front of 3,515 fans at Constellation Field.  The Revs snap a two-game skid and improve to 22-17 in the second half, moving back within one game of first place.

Down 3-1, the Revs rallied to tie the score in the eighth inning.  Alexi Casilla led off the frame with a single to right, and raced all the way from first base to score on a one-out double to right by Isaias Tejeda.  On the relay home, Tejeda dashed toward third and beat the throw there, setting himself up to score the tying run when Michael Burgess muscled a broken bat bloop single to left field.

With one out in the ninth, Triunfel crushed a solo home run to left center off Skeeters closer Mark Haynes (1-2), providing the winning run.

Anthony Giansanti greeted Revs closer Brad Allen with a first pitch double down the left field line in the bottom of the ninth, immediately putting the victory in doubt.  Kevin Ahrens grounded to second, advancing the tying run to third base with one out.  Allen fell behind Travis Scott 2-0, but came back to record a strikeout looking, prompting an argument and an ejection of Scott.  Allen slipped behind Wilfredo Rodriguez 3-0, but on a green light, Rodriguez chopped a grounder to third baseman Chase Simpson who fired to first to finish off the huge victory.

York grabbed a first inning lead on a two-out Burgess RBI single to right field, but did not score again until the eighth.

Skeeters starter Brett Marshall allowed only one run in his five innings, and denied the Revs on a one-out bases loaded opportunity in the fourth.

Revs starter Victor Mateo came up big, minimizing damage in the third and fourth innings by leaving the bases loaded both times to keep the game close.

Caleb Ramsey led off the home third with a double and scored on an error to tie the game in the third.  Ramsey gave Sugar Land the lead on an RBI single to enter in the fourth, and a two-out bases loaded walk to Ahrens increased the Skeeters lead to 3-1.  Mateo retired the side in order over his final two innings, logging a quality start with three runs over six innings, overcoming a season high-tying four walks.

Hawtin Buchanan stranded two runners in a scoreless seventh and Chase Huchingson (4-3) allowed only a two-out infield single in a scoreless eighth, earning the win.
Allen’s save was his 18th of the season, fourth most in the league, and ties Michael Nix (2011) for fourth most in a season in Revs history.

Notes: The Revs pick up their third win when trailing after seven innings (3-43), and Sugar Land loses for just the fourth time when leading after seven (39-4).  York improves to 10-6 against Sugar Land on the season, 3-3 at Constellation Field.  York’s 10 wins in the season series matches its most all-time vs. Sugar Land (10-10 in 2012).  The Revs have homered in a season-high 7 straight games and rank second in the league with 97 long balls on the season.  Triunfel has gone yard in back-to-back games, and has hit three of his eight home runs at Constellation Field.  York lefty Frank Gailey (9-9, 4.57) faces Sugar Land right hander Bobby Blevins (4-7, 5.42) on Thursday at 8:05 p.m. ET in the third game of a six-game series.  Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK app beginning at 7:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
