The York Revolution were unable to take advantage of nine walks, falling to the Bridgeport Bluefish 5-1 on a cold and damp Saturday evening at PeoplesBank Park.  The Revs will look to snap a four-game skid and avoid the sweep in the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Revs’ offensive struggles continued, as they mustered just four hits with their ninth inning rally proving to be too little, too late.
The Bluefish got on the board first with a run in the second, as Sean Burroughs blooped a single to lead off the frame, and Tony Abreu drove him in on a two-out single to center off of Logan Williamson.
While the Revs starter was tagged with five earned runs, he pitched far better than his line, working into the sixth for the first time this season. In the sixth, however, Alberto Callaspo homered to lead off the inning, and then with two away, Santiago Nessy went yard as well, a three-run shot to swell the Bluefish lead to 5-0. The key play in the inning was a fly ball to right field off the bat of Jonathan Galvez that Michael Burgess was unable to see in the twilight off the bat as it fell in for a single. The extra out allowed Nessy to come to the plate, and Williamson was chased from the game a batter later.
At the plate, the Revs’ bats were relatively quiet against Bridgeport starter Rainy Lara.  Travis Witherspoon’s double in the second and Ryan Dent’s double in the fourth were the only hits that Lara allowed. While the Bridgeport righty did walk six batters and hit one, York was unable to come up with the clutch hit, stranding seven runners in the first four innings of play.
The Revs also fell victim to the double play ball, bouncing into three twin killings on the night.
Chase Huchingson finished off the sixth for the Revs and stayed on for a scoreless seventh, and Jarrett Martin followed with a scoreless eighth with two punch outs for York. Then in the ninth Manny Corpas made his season debut, working a three-up, three-down inning, striking out two.
The Revs scored their lone run in the ninth and brought the tying run to the plate with two walks and two hits in the inning, as Joel Guzman scored on a Travis Witherspoon groundout, but the Revs stranded the bases full to end the game, totaling ten left aboard on the night.
The Revs look to salvage the final game of the brief four-game homestand Sunday at 1 p.m. when they send left hander Frank Gailey (3-1, 2.14) to the hill to face off with Bridgeport righty Tyler Badamo (1-1, 0.00).
Sunday is Mother’s Day and it will feature the much anticipated Baby Diaper Derby at PeoplesBank Park. It’s also Dollar Dog Day presented by Hatfield Quality Meats and includes Pregame Autographs and Catch on the Field, and Post-Game Kids Run the Bases.  Tickets are on sale at, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.  Broadcast coverage kicks off at 12:40 p.m. on WOYK,,, and the WOYK app with Darrell Henry and Matt Present on the call.
*Saturday marked the 700th regular season game at PeoplesBank Park
*9 walks in the ballgame were the most to Revs hitters this season
*Isaias Tejeda’s hitting streak was snapped at 7 games, but he did reach base twice with two walks
